SBI VC Trade launches Japan’s first USDC lending service
SBI VC Trade launched Japan’s first licensed USDC lending service for retail investors, offering a 10% yield for 12 weeks, then around 5%. Users can lend up to 5,000 USDC per campaign.
SBI VC Trade, a subsidiary of SBI Holdings, has introduced Japan’s first licensed USDC stablecoin lending service for retail investors, launching on March 19, 2026. This service allows users to lend USDC and earn interest, with an initial 12-week annualized yield of 10%. After this period, the standard return is expected to be around 5%. Each user can lend up to 5,000 USDC per campaign, with interest accruing automatically during the fixed term. The platform leverages blockchain technology and SBI Group’s financial infrastructure, offering returns significantly higher than traditional USD bank deposits, which typically range from 0.01% to 4%. For smaller investments, earnings may be non-taxable if they fall below the ¥200,000 threshold under Japanese tax law. Regulated by local authorities, this service marks a significant expansion of digital asset offerings for retail investors in Japan, a market previously dominated by institutional players. SBI VC Trade has supported USDC since March 2025, ensuring compliance and operational expertise.
