CoinDCX denies new $16M theft, cites old wallet breach

CoinDCX denied reports of a new $16M theft, stating the affected wallets were compromised in July 2025. The exchange claims customer funds are safe, though some investigators remain skeptical.

On October 22, reports surfaced about a suspected $16 million theft from Indian crypto exchange CoinDCX. Allegedly, funds were moved from hot wallets and deposit addresses to a TRON address, then distributed across multiple exchanges. CoinDCX denied any recent security breach, clarifying that the affected addresses were compromised in July 2025 and have not been used since. The exchange assured users that customer funds remain secure and that the recent transactions involved only old, previously compromised addresses, not their current wallet infrastructure. Blockchain investigators, however, questioned this explanation, noting that some addresses appeared active after the 2025 incident. Despite the debate, no new customer losses or breaches have been independently confirmed, and CoinDCX maintains that trading and investments continue as normal.
