Apple urges update after iOS flaw threatens crypto wallets

Apple patched a critical iOS flaw exploited in targeted attacks, posing risks to crypto wallet users. Update to iOS 26.7.1 to secure your device and protect digital assets.

Apple has released urgent updates for iPhone and iPad, addressing a critical security vulnerability (CVE-2026-86950) in the CoreGraphics component. This out-of-bounds write flaw allowed attackers to execute arbitrary code via malicious files and was reportedly exploited in targeted attacks on users of iOS versions before iOS 27. Blockchain security firm SlowMist highlighted that cryptocurrency users are especially at risk, as recent attacks have focused on stealing sensitive wallet information. The vulnerability was reported by Meta Product Security, prompting Apple to enhance bounds checking in iOS 26.7.1 and iPadOS 26.7.1. Although there is no direct evidence that the flaw was used to steal cryptocurrency, users are strongly advised to update their devices immediately and remain cautious with unknown apps and links to safeguard their digital assets.
