Dubai Raid: $18.58M Crypto Seized, Hacker Danny Reportedly Arrested
British hacker Danny, aka Danish Zulfiqar, is reportedly arrested in Dubai, with $18.58M in crypto seized. He is linked to a $243M Genesis theft and the 2023 Kroll SIM swap attack.
British hacker Danny, also known as Meech or Danish Zulfiqar (Khan), is reported to have been arrested in Dubai, with authorities allegedly seizing over $18.58 million in cryptocurrency assets. Blockchain investigator ZachXBT tracked Danny’s crypto movements, noting a consolidation of funds into a single Ethereum wallet, a pattern typical of law enforcement seizures. The arrest reportedly followed a raid on a Dubai villa, with several associates also allegedly detained. Danny has been linked to major crypto crimes, including a $243 million theft from a Genesis creditor in August 2024, carried out through social engineering by impersonating support staff and convincing the victim to reset two-factor authentication. The stolen funds were laundered through multiple exchanges and cryptocurrencies. Danny is also implicated in the 2023 Kroll SIM swap attack, which exposed personal information of BlockFi, Genesis, and FTX creditors, resulting in over $300 million in losses. While ZachXBT and several sources report the arrest and asset seizure, Dubai authorities have not publicly confirmed these events as of press time.
