Banks and regulators pilot quantum-resistant wallets
Banks and regulators across regions are piloting quantum-resistant crypto wallets and transfers on NEAR, aiming to open-source secure infrastructure and prepare for quantum threats.
A cross-regional pilot has been launched to test quantum-resistant security for digital asset wallets and blockchain transfers. The initiative involves banks and financial regulators from Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. Led by the Responsible Fintech Institute, with Safeheron as technology partner, the project uses a multiparty computation protocol supporting the NIST-standardized ML-DSA-65 digital signature on the quantum-resistant NEAR testnet. Bison Bank and DK Bank are piloting wallet creation and onchain transfers, while regulators from Abu Dhabi, Bhutan, and Malta observe and contribute to governance discussions. The pilot aims to evaluate and eventually open-source quantum-resilient infrastructure, focusing on cross-border interoperability, operational resilience, and governance. Organizers plan to publish a white paper detailing research and test results. This initiative helps financial institutions prepare for new signature standards before quantum computers threaten current cryptographic systems.
