Pirated copies of the newly released film "The Odyssey" are being used to distribute Lumma Stealer malware, according to multiple cybersecurity reports. Attackers disguise Windows executable files as high-definition WEBRip and Blu-ray movie downloads, using familiar torrent labels and icons that mimic VLC Media Player or standard video files to deceive users. Once executed, the malware targets sensitive information, including crypto wallets, passwords, browser cookies, payment details, and remote desktop credentials. It can also steal authentication cookies, potentially allowing attackers to bypass multi-factor authentication and gain unauthorized access to accounts. Bitdefender has identified and blocked several malicious downloads and associated domains, warning that similar tactics have been used in previous campaigns. Users attempting to download pirated versions of "The Odyssey" risk compromising their crypto assets and personal data due to these deceptive, malware-laden files.
