Ravencoin faces consensus flaw; exchanges pause RVN

Ravencoin suffered a consensus flaw, risking a three-day chain reorg. Major exchanges paused RVN transactions, and the price dropped as emergency patches were released.

Ravencoin recently experienced a critical consensus vulnerability that allowed attackers to introduce invalid blocks, starting at block height 4,487,776. This flaw, impacting the KAWPOW proof-of-work system, resulted in a blockchain split. Major mining pools, including 2Miners and RavenMiner, began building a recovery chain from the last valid block. If this new chain becomes dominant, a deep reorganization could occur, potentially erasing up to three days of transactions. In response, exchanges like Upbit and Bitvavo have suspended RVN deposits and withdrawals. Users are strongly advised to consider all transactions after block 4,487,775 as high risk. The incident led to a sharp decline in RVN's price, with losses reaching up to 19%. The Ravencoin team has issued emergency patches and urged all network participants to upgrade, stressing transparency and caution without endorsing any specific rollback or recovery plan.
