Three Missouri men—Sedric Louis, John Davis, and Martel Williams—face charges of conspiracy to interfere with commerce by robbery (Hobbs Act robbery) after allegedly plotting to steal Bitcoin via a home invasion in Connecticut. Between August 21 and 24, 2024, the trio traveled from Missouri, rented vehicles, and obtained air rifles and walkie-talkies. They surveilled their target and his parents for two days, intending to force the transfer of cryptocurrency into wallets controlled by the scheme’s organizers. The plan was abandoned when the suspects became concerned about home-security cameras and experienced communication issues with other conspirators. Shortly after, a separate group from Florida allegedly attempted a violent kidnapping of the same couple, who were later rescued by police. This incident is part of a broader investigation into a $245 million cryptocurrency theft. Louis and Davis remain detained, while Williams was released on bond. All three have pleaded not guilty.
