BNB Chain sues ex-employee over meme token misuse

BNB Chain sues a former employee for using a tutorial wallet’s seed phrase to launch an unauthorized meme token, stressing improved seed phrase security.

BNB Chain has filed a lawsuit against a former employee who misused a wallet seed phrase—originally created for an internal tutorial video—to launch an unauthorized meme token. The company clarified that it neither created nor endorsed the token or the associated wallet, and has no control over them. The seed phrase was meant solely for educational purposes, but the ex-employee retained access after leaving BNB Chain and used it to deploy the token. BNB Chain has not revealed the token’s name or trading details and is working closely with law enforcement on the matter. This incident has sparked concerns about organizational security protocols, especially regarding the management of seed phrases and wallets when staff depart. BNB Chain noted that legal action alone cannot remove the token from its network. This is the third insider-related token controversy in the Binance ecosystem since early 2025.
