The group stole over $250 million from victims across the United States between late 2023 and early 2025. Ferro, 20, pleaded guilty to racketeering conspiracy and must also serve three years of supervised release and pay $2.5 million in restitution. The criminal organization used social engineering, hacking, impersonation calls, money laundering, and targeted home invasions to access and steal cryptocurrency, focusing on individuals with significant holdings. Ferro's specific role involved breaking into homes to physically steal hardware wallets when other tactics failed. In February 2024, Ferro stole about 100 Bitcoin, valued at over $5 million, during a Texas home invasion. The stolen funds were laundered through exchanges and spent on luxury goods, retail stores, and nightclubs. This sentencing marks a significant step in combating sophisticated crypto-related crime.
