These anomalies resulted in significant payouts on the Polymarket betting platform, with two accounts reportedly earning around $37,000. The station's sensor briefly registered temperatures several degrees higher than nearby stations, raising suspicions of tampering. Meteorologists ruled out natural causes and suggested the possibility of physical intervention, such as using a heat device. In response, Météo France filed a complaint with authorities, citing potential external manipulation of its automated data systems. This incident has sparked concerns about the vulnerability of real-world data used in financial instruments and prediction markets. As a result, Polymarket changed its data source for Paris temperature bets. Investigations are ongoing, and no arrests have been reported so far.
