Amina Hong Kong has secured a crypto trading license, allowing it to offer regulated spot trading and custody services for 13 major cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, USDT, and USDC. This move marks a significant milestone for institutional crypto adoption in Hong Kong, providing professional investors with access to these services within a regulated framework. The license ensures compliance with local financial regulations and enhances investor trust. AMINA (Hong Kong) Limited, a subsidiary of a Swiss-based banking institution, is now the first international banking group in the region to provide comprehensive crypto spot trading and asset safeguarding services following a Securities and Futures Commission Type 1 license uplift. The services are available 24/7 and meet SOC 1/2 Type 2 security standards. AMINA plans to expand into private fund management, structured products, derivatives, and tokenized real-world assets. This development reflects Hong Kong’s commitment to becoming a global crypto hub and sets a blueprint for other jurisdictions. Meanwhile, Discovery Bank has partnered with Luno to integrate crypto trading into its mobile app, making it the first major South African bank to offer such services, thus increasing accessibility and convenience for clients.
