FINRA Boosts Board With Crypto Policy Experts Amid Market Shift
FINRA has appointed four crypto policy experts, including Rostin Behnam and Dan Gallagher, to its board, aiming to strengthen oversight and adapt regulations as digital assets merge with traditional finance.
The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) has expanded its Board of Governors by appointing four new members with significant experience in crypto policy and financial regulation, including Rostin Behnam and Dan Gallagher. This move aims to strengthen FINRA’s oversight as digital assets become increasingly integrated with traditional finance. Behnam, known for his advocacy of comprehensive federal crypto regulation and enforcement actions during his time at the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, brings expertise in digital asset markets and blockchain adoption. Gallagher, with a background in compliance and regulatory affairs, is recognized for his critical stance on current government approaches to crypto and his experience at Robinhood Markets. The appointments are expected to enhance FINRA’s ability to provide strategic oversight, adapt regulatory frameworks, and protect investors as the financial landscape evolves with the growing presence of digital assets. The board now consists of 22 members, each serving three-year terms, and is positioned to shape future rules and policies for both traditional and crypto markets.
