Payward targets regulated US futures launch

Payward plans CFTC-regulated perpetual futures for U.S. clients via Hyperliquid’s HIP-3, with Bitnomial and NinjaTrader Clearing. Awaiting regulatory approval, no launch date set.

Payward, the parent company of Kraken, has announced plans to launch regulated perpetual futures markets for U.S. clients using Hyperliquid’s HIP-3 infrastructure. This initiative would make Payward the first CFTC-regulated deployer on Hyperliquid. Bitnomial will oversee deployment, listing, clearing, and settlement of contracts, while NinjaTrader Clearing will handle client accounts. The HIP-3 upgrade introduces onchain allowlists to restrict market access, potentially enabling compliance with U.S. regulatory requirements. However, the project is still pending regulatory approval, and no launch date or specific contract details have been confirmed. This move is viewed as a strategic bridge between decentralized finance and the U.S. institutional framework, aiming to open the perpetual derivatives market to onshore investors under federal oversight. The regulatory process is being closely watched, as its outcome will shape Hyperliquid’s market dynamics and credibility.
