Khalid Basalamah admitted returning USD 554,500 to KPK and paying suspected acceleration and VIP fees in the hajj quota corruption case.
Khalid Basalamah, owner of PT Zahra Oto Mandiri and Director of Uhud Tour, testified at the Central Jakarta Corruption Court regarding the alleged corruption in the 2023–2024 additional hajj quota. He admitted to returning USD 554,500 to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), consisting of USD 354,500 in cash and USD 200,000 via bank transfer, both handed over through his staff. Khalid also confirmed that KPK investigators had seized these funds. During the trial, Khalid revealed he paid USD 4,500 per pilgrim for hajj visas, which he initially believed to be a visa fee but is now suspected to be an acceleration fee. Additionally, there was an extra payment of USD 37,000 for 37 pilgrims and USD 390 per pilgrim for VIP maktab services. Prosecutors disclosed alleged state losses of IDR 622 billion in this case. Khalid emphasized that information on the pilgrims' departures was obtained from his staff and stated he was unaware the payments constituted acceleration fees.
