Crypto figure wanted by Interpol caught in Istanbul
Richard Heart, wanted by Interpol, was detained in Istanbul. Authorities seized luxury watches, jewelry, electronics, firearms, and large sums of cash during the operation.
Richard James Schueler, also known as Richard Heart, was detained with his spouse A.K. during an operation in Istanbul’s Beşiktaş district on the morning of October 14, 2026. The operation was a joint effort between Turkey’s National Intelligence Organization (MIT) and the Istanbul Police Department. Schueler was wanted by Interpol with a red notice requested by Finland in 2024, based on serious tax evasion and assault charges. Notably, a previous lawsuit filed by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in 2023 regarding an unregistered crypto offering exceeding $1 billion had been dropped. Authorities seized numerous electronic devices, firearms, jewelry, 53 Rolex and 11 Patek Philippe watches, gold jewelry, and large amounts of cash in various currencies. While reports varied on the total cash seized, no official inventory was released. The suspects are accused of committing fraud via social media using IBAN and crypto methods. The seized materials will be examined as part of the ongoing investigation.
