Chainalysis faces key Celsius $3.3B audit lawsuit claim

Most claims against Chainalysis in the Celsius case were dismissed, but a key claim over a disputed $3.3B audit survives, focusing on alleged aiding and abetting of false statements.

A U.S. federal judge has dismissed most claims brought against Chainalysis by the bankruptcy administrator of Celsius Network. However, a key claim will proceed, centering on a 2020 Celsius announcement that labeled $3.3 billion in assets as audited. The court found sufficient grounds to allege that Chainalysis knew these statements were false and helped disseminate them. In total, fifteen claims were dismissed—twelve with prejudice, meaning they cannot be refiled, and three with the option to amend by October 20. The Blockchain Recovery Investment Consortium is pursuing the remaining claim on behalf of Celsius’s bankruptcy estate, specifically investigating whether Chainalysis aided and abetted a breach of fiduciary duty. This case continues to draw attention to Celsius’s asset reporting practices and may have broader implications for transparency and due diligence standards across the crypto industry.
