Greece enters EU MiCA register, denies Binance rumors

Greece joins the EU MiCA register with four crypto firms. Oversight is split between two regulators. Authorities deny external interference in Binance’s withdrawn application.

Greece has officially joined the European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulatory framework. Four local providers—BCash, Xenios Blockchain Group, Capital Wallet Greece, and Piraeus Bank—are now listed on the European Securities and Markets Authority’s (ESMA) MiCA register. This marks Greece’s first entries on the EU-wide list of authorized crypto-asset service providers, expanding the register to 359 firms across Europe. Regulatory oversight in Greece is divided: the Hellenic Capital Market Commission supervises BCash, Xenios Blockchain Group, and Capital Wallet Greece, while the Bank of Greece oversees Piraeus Bank. The registration process for these firms was completed between June and August 2026, with their simultaneous appearance on the ESMA register reflecting the timing of document transmission and publication. Additionally, Greek regulators have publicly denied reports of external interference in the review of Binance’s withdrawn application, clarifying that neither the European Central Bank nor the Greek government intervened in the process.
