SBF loses Uniswap.com domain to Uniswap Labs after dispute

Uniswap founder Hayden Adams disclosed that after the Uniswap team declined to pay a seven-figure sum for the Uniswap.com domain, Sam Bankman-Fried acquired it for that amount. He then redirected the domain to SushiSwap, a forked project, which was widely seen as a malicious move that could mislead users and disrupt Uniswap’s operations. In response, Uniswap’s legal team intervened, and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) ordered the domain to be transferred to Uniswap Labs in September 2021, citing bad-faith use. Adams did not reveal the specific legal steps taken or whether Bankman-Fried received any compensation. The domain now redirects to Uniswap’s official application, highlighting the competitive and high-stakes nature of the crypto industry when it comes to controlling valuable digital assets.
