Kazakhstan’s crypto market surges with new oversight center

Kazakhstan’s crypto market surged 30-fold to $10.5B, with 270,000 clients and three licensed exchanges. Authorities blocked 1,100 unlicensed platforms and launched a national analytics center for oversight.

Kazakhstan’s regulated cryptocurrency market has experienced remarkable growth, expanding more than 30-fold since new regulations were introduced in 2023. Transaction volumes soared from $320 million in 2023 to $10.5 billion by the end of 2025, with $5.5 billion recorded in the first half of 2026. The number of clients using regulated platforms increased from 53,000 to 270,000. Currently, three crypto exchanges are licensed, while five more await approval. Since 2025, authorities have blocked over 1,100 unauthorized crypto platforms, demonstrating a strong commitment to market integrity. To enhance oversight, Kazakhstan is launching a National Cryptocurrency Analytics Center, integrated with the National Bank’s SupTech platform and Anti-Fraud Center. This center will provide real-time monitoring tools to banks, law enforcement, and digital asset providers. Recent policy changes include personal income tax exemptions for private crypto investors and the designation of KASE as a digital asset operator, underscoring Kazakhstan’s commitment to a robust, regulated crypto ecosystem.
