Germany leads EU in MiCA crypto provider authorizations

Germany leads the EU in MiCA crypto asset service provider authorizations, reaching 79 after six cooperative banks joined. This underscores Germany's strong regulatory environment and growing influence in the European crypto market.

Germany has solidified its status as the leading hub for crypto asset service providers in the European Union under the Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation. According to the latest update from the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), six German cooperative banks—including Raiffeisenbank Aidlingen, Ihre Volksbank, VR-Bank Mittelfranken Mitte, Volksbank Euskirchen, VR Bank Ried-Überwald, and Volksbank Backnang—have joined the MiCA register. This addition brings Germany’s total number of authorized crypto asset service providers to 79, surpassing France with 35 and the Netherlands with 29, out of 331 authorized providers across the EU. The growth reflects Germany’s robust financial sector and the significant presence of credit institutions eligible to offer crypto services. Germany’s expanding regulated crypto activities signal a supportive regulatory environment, which may positively influence investor sentiment and impact the broader European crypto market, including Ethereum.
