BitMart reverses shutdown, plans phased reopening

BitMart reverses shutdown, plans phased reopening and creditor distributions. Roadmap to be presented September 9 amid user concerns and BMX token volatility.

BitMart, a cryptocurrency exchange, has reversed its previous decision to shut down and is now considering a phased reopening through a restructuring plan. The exchange had earlier suspended new registrations, deposits, and trading, with a full shutdown scheduled for January 31, 2027. The new plan proposes a possible resumption of partial operations and distributions to creditors, pending further legal, financial, operational, and regulatory review. BitMart has engaged the law firm White & Case as restructuring counsel to help develop a roadmap, which is expected to be presented on September 9. This move follows user complaints about blocked withdrawals and concerns over BitMart’s financial stability, especially after the dismissal of its former CEO. The announcement has caused volatility in BitMart’s native token, BMX, and raised questions about the recovery of user balances and the platform’s long-term future.
