Revolut to delist USDT in Europe: MiCA compliance update
Revolut will delist USDT for European users, ending purchases July 6, deposits July 30, and all support August 31. Remaining balances will be converted to fiat under MiCA rules.
Revolut has announced it will delist Tether’s USDT stablecoin for European users, in response to the European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulatory framework. Users can purchase USDT until July 6 and deposit it until July 30. After these deadlines, users may still sell or withdraw USDT to external wallets until August 31. Any USDT remaining in Revolut accounts after August 31 will be automatically converted into the user’s base fiat currency at the prevailing exchange rate. This action aligns with MiCA’s enforcement, which requires stablecoin issuers to meet strict authorization and reserve requirements. Since Tether has not registered USDT as a compliant e-money token under MiCA, Revolut is removing support to avoid legal risks. This move places Revolut among other European platforms discontinuing USDT support as MiCA reshapes the regional crypto market.
