NOBLE backs CLARITY Act, boosting Senate prospects

NOBLE is the first major law enforcement group to endorse the CLARITY Act, supporting expanded digital asset regulation while preserving current criminal authorities.

The National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE) has become the first major law enforcement group to publicly endorse the Digital Asset Market CLARITY Act. In letters to Senate leaders, NOBLE praised the bill for strengthening law enforcement capabilities while maintaining existing criminal justice authorities. NOBLE highlighted that the Act would expand regulatory obligations for digital asset industry participants, enhance seizure authority, increase transparency, and improve oversight of crypto kiosks. Importantly, these changes would not alter current federal criminal authorities for prosecuting offenses such as money laundering and sanctions violations. NOBLE’s support stands in contrast to criticism from other law enforcement groups, particularly regarding Section 604, which addresses non-custodial software developers and infrastructure providers. This endorsement is seen as boosting the bill’s prospects in the Senate and underscores a divide within law enforcement over the legislation’s impact on crime oversight and regulatory obligations in the crypto sector.
