Binance set for regulated comeback in the Philippines

Binance is set to re-enter the Philippines after SEC approval for BlockShoals to start sandbox testing. A 90-day integration is required before onboarding, with further regulatory steps pending.

Binance is preparing to re-enter the Philippine market after the country’s Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) granted final approval for its local partner, BlockShoals Technologies Inc., to begin regulatory sandbox testing. BlockShoals will undergo a 90-day integration period with a licensed local provider before Binance-backed user onboarding can commence. The SEC’s approval allows BlockShoals to act as a crypto-asset intermediary, giving Filipino users access to selected Binance services within a supervised regulatory framework. However, additional regulatory requirements from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) must be met before full operations and public onboarding can begin. This partnership marks a strategic move for Binance to establish a regulated presence in Southeast Asia, ensuring compliance and expanding crypto services in the Philippines.
