US lifts export controls on Anthropic AI models

The U.S. has lifted export controls on Anthropic’s Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5, restoring global access after a three-week suspension. Anthropic will begin restoring services and update users soon.

The U.S. Department of Commerce has lifted export controls on Anthropic’s AI models, Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5, effective June 30. Global access restoration will begin on July 1. These restrictions, initially imposed on June 12 over national security concerns related to potential model jailbreaks, had forced Anthropic to suspend access for foreign nationals and take the models offline across all platforms. After nearly three weeks of negotiations and operational challenges—particularly the difficulty of segmenting users by nationality—the decision was reversed. Anthropic will now restore access to its services, which is especially beneficial for developers and crypto traders who rely on Claude Fable 5 for trading automation. Additionally, over 100 trusted partners, including U.S. companies and federal agencies, will regain access to Mythos 5, which focuses on cybersecurity. The market has responded positively, anticipating a swift restoration of services and a potential boost in Anthropic’s valuation.
