Pump.fun offers $5M salary for legal chief amid lawsuits

Pump.fun seeks a CLO with a $1M–$5M salary to manage global legal risks as it faces lawsuits and high trading volumes.

Pump.fun, a Solana-based memecoin launchpad operated by Baton Corporation, is seeking a chief legal officer (CLO) with a base salary between $1 million and $5 million—comparable to major investment banks. The CLO will oversee regulatory affairs, product counsel, corporate governance, cross-border compliance, litigation, class actions, law enforcement requests, AML/KYC programs, and global regulatory strategy. Candidates must have expertise in US, UK, EU, and APAC regulatory frameworks, including agencies like the SEC, CFTC, FinCEN, OFAC, FCA, and be familiar with MiCA and DORA standards. Pump.fun processes over $300 million in daily trading volume and generated more than $500 million in profit last year, despite having fewer than 100 employees. The company is currently facing multiple class-action lawsuits in the Southern District of New York, including allegations of unregistered securities offerings and racketeering. It was also geo-blocked from the UK in 2024 following FCA action. The CLO role highlights the increasing legal and regulatory challenges for fast-growing crypto platforms.
