Kraken brings regulated perpetual futures to U.S. traders
Kraken now offers CFTC-regulated perpetual futures to U.S. clients via Bitnomial, giving access to a $60T global market. Contracts for major cryptocurrencies are available on Kraken Pro.
Kraken has introduced CFTC-regulated perpetual futures for eligible U.S. clients following its acquisition of Bitnomial, a CFTC-licensed derivatives platform. This is the first time U.S. traders can access perpetual futures—a product that saw over $60 trillion in global trading volume in 2025—on a regulated domestic exchange. The new contracts initially cover major cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin, ether, and solana. They are available on Kraken Pro, alongside spot, margin, and traditional futures trading. Perpetual futures differ from standard futures as they have no expiration date, allowing traders to hold leveraged positions indefinitely. An 8-hour funding rate mechanism helps keep contract prices in line with spot markets. This launch follows recent regulatory guidance and brings a previously offshore-dominated product onshore, expanding U.S. traders’ access to a key crypto derivatives market.
