Blockrise Gets MiCA License, Expands Regulated Bitcoin Services EU-wide

Blockrise has obtained a MiCA license, allowing it to offer regulated Bitcoin services, including custody, trading, and Bitcoin-backed loans, across the EU. The company plans further expansion and a €15 million funding round.

Blockrise, a Netherlands-based Bitcoin-only company, has secured a MiCA license from the Dutch Authority for the Financial Markets, enabling it to offer regulated Bitcoin financial services across all European Union markets. The license, granted under the new Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA) framework, allows Blockrise to provide custody solutions, trading, asset management, and Bitcoin-backed loans to business clients throughout Europe. Business loans start at €20,000, with Bitcoin used as collateral and an interest rate of 8%, reviewed monthly. Blockrise emphasizes security by using a semi-custodial wallet structure and ensuring client Bitcoin is not rehypothecated. The company currently manages around €100 million in client assets and is preparing for a €15 million Series A funding round to support its European expansion. The MiCA license positions Blockrise as a key player in the regulated Bitcoin market, offering services that meet stringent European standards for security, transparency, and investor protection.
