DeFi Set for 100% Global Adoption by 2030, Says Chainlink Co-Founder
Sergey Nazarov predicts DeFi could reach 100% global adoption by 2030, driven by regulatory clarity and institutional participation. DeFi is currently 30% adopted, with growth hinging on clear legal frameworks.
Chainlink co-founder Sergey Nazarov projects that decentralized finance (DeFi) could achieve full global adoption by 2030, emphasizing that regulatory clarity is the key driver for this growth. Nazarov estimates DeFi is currently about 30% of the way to mass adoption, with significant progress dependent on the establishment of clear legal frameworks that would enable institutional capital to flow into DeFi without compliance concerns. He highlights that transparent regulations, particularly in the United States, could accelerate institutional participation and push adoption to 70%, with full adoption possible when DeFi's capital base rivals that of traditional finance. Recent data shows DeFi lending protocols have grown by 72% year-to-date, supported by increased use of stablecoins and tokenized assets. Nazarov believes that as regulations become clearer, DeFi will transition from a niche sector to a fundamental part of the global financial system.
