Hyperliquid unveils $29M DeFi policy center in D.C.

Hyperliquid launches a D.C.-based DeFi Policy Center, backed by a $28–$29M HYPE token donation, to advocate for clear U.S. DeFi regulations. Jake Chervinsky is named founding CEO.

Hyperliquid has launched the Hyperliquid Policy Center, a nonprofit research and advocacy group based in Washington, D.C. The center is dedicated to advancing decentralized finance (DeFi) policy and promoting regulatory clarity in the United States. This initiative is supported by a donation of 1 million HYPE tokens from the Hyper Foundation, valued between $28 million and $29 million. Jake Chervinsky, a well-known crypto lawyer, has been appointed as the founding CEO of the center. The organization aims to work directly with lawmakers and regulators to help them better understand DeFi protocols. It will also support the creation of clear rules for on-chain markets, including a legal framework for perpetual futures, which are still largely unregulated in the U.S. The launch comes as Congress debates DeFi regulations and the crypto industry seeks stronger representation in Washington. The Hyperliquid Policy Center joins a growing list of organizations advocating for crypto policy, striving to ensure DeFi can thrive under a supportive regulatory environment.
