US named crypto capital amid reforms and mixed results

The U.S. is now the "crypto capital of the world" after regulatory reforms and pro-crypto policies, but the first year saw falling crypto prices and mixed investor results.

The United States has emerged as the "crypto capital of the world" after significant regulatory and policy changes. Under President Donald Trump, optimism in the crypto sector grew, with pledges to make the U.S. a global leader in digital assets. The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), led by Mike Selig, introduced initiatives like "Crypto Sprint" and "Future-Proof" to modernize regulations and encourage innovation. Updated frameworks aim to balance oversight with industry growth, and collaboration with the SEC is expected to strengthen the nation's crypto infrastructure. Despite these efforts, the first year of relaxed regulations saw cryptocurrency prices drop, resulting in more losses than gains for investors. Still, the U.S. government continues to push for leadership in the global crypto market, enacting new laws such as the GENIUS Act and appointing pro-crypto officials to key regulatory positions.
