Thailand SEC unveils crypto ETF and futures regulations

Thailand's SEC will soon introduce regulations for crypto ETFs, futures, and tokenized products, aiming to boost digital asset adoption and position the country as a regional crypto hub.

Thailand's Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is preparing to introduce comprehensive regulations for cryptocurrency exchange-traded funds (ETFs), futures trading, and tokenized investment products. These new guidelines, expected early this year, will allow crypto ETFs and futures trading on the Thailand Futures Exchange (TFEX), providing clear operational frameworks for asset managers and exchanges. The SEC also plans to formally recognize digital assets as an official asset class under the Derivatives Act. This move aims to provide legal clarity and align Thailand’s capital markets with global digital asset trends. Additionally, the regulatory initiative includes the introduction of a market-making system to enhance liquidity and price stability. Notably, Thailand will launch its first green token linked to ESG investment goals. These measures are designed to make digital asset investment more accessible and secure for both institutional and retail investors, positioning Thailand as a leading crypto hub in Southeast Asia.
