Binance unveils gold and silver options after futures surge

Binance launched European-style gold and silver options settled in USDT. Retail traders can buy but not write options, capping risk at the premium paid.

Binance has introduced European-style options on gold and silver, settled in USDT, via its ADGM-regulated Nest Exchange Limited. This launch comes in response to strong demand for gold and silver perpetual futures, which recently saw daily trading volumes of $7.77 billion and $7.27 billion, respectively. The new options allow retail traders to buy calls and puts, but they are not permitted to write options, limiting their risk to the premium paid. Only designated market makers and institutional users can write options. The contracts use benchmarks derived from multiple third-party price feeds and are available during traditional commodity market hours. Binance positions this initiative as a bridge between crypto-native infrastructure and traditional assets. The company aims to expand its compliant product suite and may allow limited retail writing under stricter rules in the future. This move is part of Binance's broader strategy to offer crypto-native exposure to traditional commodities.
