Brazil's B3 exchange launches crypto futures options

Brazil's B3 exchange launched options on Bitcoin, Ether, and Solana futures, expanding regulated crypto derivatives for local traders and reducing reliance on offshore markets.

Brazil's B3 stock exchange, the largest in Latin America, has introduced options on Bitcoin, Ether, and Solana futures, further expanding its regulated crypto derivatives offerings. Launched on July 6, these contracts include call and put options on Bitcoin futures denominated in Brazilian reais, while Ether and Solana futures are denominated in U.S. dollars. The options are cash-settled, European-style, and reference established Nasdaq crypto rates. They settle into the underlying futures contracts rather than spot cryptoassets, so there is no custody, transfer, or administration of actual tokens. Trading sessions run independently from 9:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. local time. Exercise is automatic at expiration if the option is in the money, unless the holder blocks it. This launch offers local traders and asset managers a regulated venue to hedge crypto exposure and trade volatility, reducing reliance on offshore markets and marking a significant step in Brazil's regulated crypto market development.
