Binance retail Bitcoin inflows hit record low

Retail Bitcoin inflows to Binance have dropped to 329 BTC per day, a record low. Whales and institutions now dominate, signaling a major shift in market structure.

Retail Bitcoin inflows to Binance have fallen to historic lows, with wallets transferring less than 1 BTC now averaging just 329 BTC per day. This marks a sharp decline from previous cycles, where daily retail inflows reached 2,690 BTC in 2021 and 3,700 BTC in 2018, with single-day peaks up to 10,400 BTC. This metric, often used to gauge retail investor activity, highlights a significant drop in retail participation during the current market cycle. Analysts attribute this trend to the growing popularity of spot Bitcoin ETFs, changing investor behavior, and reduced expectations for outsized returns. Meanwhile, larger players such as whales, miners, and institutional investors now dominate exchange activity. Whale deposits account for over 50% of total inflows, indicating a shift toward a more institutionalized market structure, with retail traders playing a much smaller role than in previous years.
