84% of altcoins below 200-day average: Bear cycle persists

84% of Binance-listed altcoins are below their 200-day moving average, signaling one of the longest bearish phases since 2020 and ongoing sector weakness.

The altcoin market is undergoing one of its longest periods of weakness since 2020. According to CryptoQuant, about 84% of tokens listed on Binance are trading below their 200-day moving average. This key technical indicator highlights persistent selling pressure and a lack of sustained momentum, with the sector remaining in a downtrend for nearly eight months. This trend is not limited to smaller tokens. The total market capitalization of altcoins, excluding Ethereum, also remains below the 200-day average. Multiple recovery attempts have failed, leaving traders frustrated and dampening hopes for a near-term rebound. Despite the negative outlook, some analysts point out that such prolonged downturns have historically presented selective medium-term investment opportunities. However, they caution that current conditions demand much more rigorous asset selection than in previous cycles.
