Upbit lists 9 altcoins; PEAQ surges, Gram drops
Upbit listed nine new altcoins on June 19, including PEAQ, LIT, and AMP. PEAQ surged 22%, Gram dropped 2.75%. Temporary trading restrictions were applied.
Upbit, South Korea's largest crypto exchange, added nine new altcoins—PEAQ, Litentry (LIT), Kamino Finance (KMNO), Morpho (MORPHO), Gram (recently rebranded from Toncoin), Lido DAO (LDO), PAX Gold (PAXG), Osmosis (OSMO), and AMP—to its Bitcoin (BTC) and Tether (USDT) markets on June 19. The listings were rolled out hourly between 3 PM and 7 PM KST. Most tokens are paired with both BTC and USDT, except AMP, which is only available against USDT. Following the announcement, PEAQ surged nearly 22%, Kamino rose 2.79%, while Gram fell 2.75%. Upbit implemented short-term trading restrictions, including a five-minute block on buy orders and a two-hour limit order-only period after trading began. The new listings span DeFi, staking, gold-backed tokens, DePIN, and blockchain infrastructure, broadening trading options for Korean users. The market is closely watching for the "Upbit Effect," where newly listed tokens often experience strong rallies.
