US Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs face major outflows

U.S. Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs saw major outflows, with $77.4M and $40.9M withdrawn on June 9. These moves reflect shifting sentiment and macroeconomic uncertainty.

U.S. spot Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs have recently faced significant net outflows, highlighting a shift in institutional demand. On June 9, Bitcoin ETFs recorded $77.4 million in outflows, primarily from BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust and Fidelity’s FBTC. Ethereum ETFs also saw $40.9 million withdrawn on the same day. Over the past week, U.S. Bitcoin ETFs experienced net outflows totaling 15,849 BTC, while Ethereum ETFs lost 13,416 ETH. According to CoinShares, these withdrawals are driven by a sentiment shock caused by geopolitical tensions and changing interest rate expectations, rather than a fundamental market crisis. Despite these outflows, Ethereum spot ETFs have also experienced periods of strong inflows, including $101.7 million in early June, with BlackRock leading a $37 million single-day inflow. Overall, ETF flow momentum reflects fragile demand and tactical risk management as investors reassess their exposure to major digital assets amid ongoing macroeconomic uncertainty.
