Aztec token surges after Upbit, Bithumb listings
Upbit and Bithumb list AZTEC with KRW, BTC, and USDT pairs, causing a 69–82% price surge. Trading starts Feb 20, with initial order limits and Ethereum-only deposits.
South Korean cryptocurrency exchanges Upbit and Bithumb have announced the listing of the Aztec (AZTEC) token on their spot trading platforms. Trading pairs will be available against KRW, BTC, and USDT. Bithumb will open trading at 7:30 a.m. UTC, while both exchanges will support deposits and withdrawals exclusively via the Ethereum network. Upbit will enforce initial restrictions, allowing only limit orders for the first two hours of trading. This move aims to ensure market stability during the launch phase. The listings have triggered a significant surge in AZTEC’s price, with gains reported between 69% and 82% within 24 hours, reaching up to $0.035. The introduction of KRW pairs on these major Korean exchanges has fueled retail demand and temporarily widened the "kimchi premium" before arbitrage narrowed the price gap with global markets. Analysts view this as a strategic step into privacy-focused blockchain solutions, expecting increased trading volumes during Asian sessions.
