Brian Armstrong loses $10B amid crypto market crash
Brian Armstrong’s net worth fell by over $10 billion since July 2025, dropping him from the world’s 500 richest list as Coinbase shares and Bitcoin prices plunged amid a broader crypto market downturn.
Brian Armstrong, co-founder of Coinbase, has seen his net worth drop by over $10 billion since July 2025, falling from a peak of $17.7 billion to about $7.5 billion. This sharp decline has pushed Armstrong off the world’s 500 richest people list, according to Bloomberg and Forbes. The downturn is mainly due to a 50–60% plunge in Coinbase shares since their July 2025 high, alongside a nearly 50% drop in Bitcoin’s price—from a record $126,000 in October 2025 to below $63,000 by February 2026. JPMorgan also slashed its price target for Coinbase by 27%, citing weaker crypto prices, lower trading volumes, and slower stablecoin adoption. Armstrong’s wealth is closely tied to his 14% stake in Coinbase. Other crypto leaders, such as the Winklevoss twins, Michael Novogratz, and Michael Saylor, have also faced significant losses as the crypto market has contracted by 40%, erasing about $2 trillion in value since October 2025.
