Strategy Makes $835M Bitcoin Buy, Nears 650,000 BTC Holdings

Strategy acquired 8,178 Bitcoin for $835 million, raising its holdings to nearly 650,000 BTC. The purchase was funded by preferred stock issuances, reinforcing its commitment to Bitcoin despite a declining stock price.

Strategy, formerly known as MicroStrategy, has made its largest Bitcoin purchase since July, acquiring 8,178 BTC for approximately $835 million at an average price of $102,171 per coin. This brings the company’s total holdings to 649,870 BTC, valued at over $61 billion at current market prices and representing more than 3% of the total Bitcoin supply. The acquisition was primarily funded through preferred stock issuances, including a new euro-denominated series, raising over $846 million. Despite the significant accumulation, Strategy’s stock price has declined, trading near $200 and down more than 30% year-to-date. The company’s executive chairman reaffirmed its commitment to Bitcoin as a treasury asset, dismissing rumors of liquidation and emphasizing a long-term strategy to build a trillion-dollar Bitcoin-backed balance sheet. Analysts note that the company’s conservative leverage and robust capital programs support its ongoing accumulation, even amid market volatility and a recent drop in share price. The move highlights Strategy’s confidence in Bitcoin’s long-term value and its intent to expand its digital asset portfolio.
