Grayscale ETHE Makes History With First U.S. Ethereum Staking Payout
Grayscale's ETHE has become the first U.S. spot crypto ETP to distribute Ethereum staking rewards, paying $0.083178 per share to holders for Q4 2025, with payouts scheduled for January 2026.
Grayscale has announced the first-ever distribution of Ethereum staking rewards to shareholders of its U.S.-listed spot crypto exchange-traded product, the Grayscale Ethereum Staking ETF (ETHE). Shareholders will receive $0.083178 per share, representing proceeds from staking rewards earned between October 6, 2025, and December 31, 2025. The payout is scheduled for January 6, 2026, based on share ownership as of January 5, 2026. This marks a significant milestone as it is the first time a U.S. spot crypto ETP has distributed staking rewards directly to investors. Grayscale also rebranded its Ethereum products in January 2026 to highlight their staking capabilities, with ETHE and ETH now reflecting their active participation in Ethereum staking. The company plans to expand staking features to additional products, aiming to make staking more accessible through regulated investment vehicles. Grayscale emphasized that these products are not registered under the Investment Company Act of 1940 and carry market risks. The move sets a precedent for integrating on-chain staking rewards into regulated exchange-traded products in the U.S.
