ETHZilla Buys 15% of Zippy to Tokenize Home Loans On-Chain
ETHZilla acquires 15% of Zippy for $21.1M to tokenize manufactured home loans, aiming to bring these assets on-chain and boost institutional access and liquidity in the sector.
ETHZilla has acquired a 15% stake in Zippy, a digital lending platform specializing in manufactured home loans, for approximately $21.1 million. The deal includes $5 million in cash, $14 million in ETHZilla common stock issued to Zippy, and $2.1 million in stock to certain Zippy shareholders. ETHZilla will appoint a director to Zippy’s board and gains a 36-month exclusivity period for blockchain infrastructure and tokenization. The partnership aims to bring Zippy’s manufactured home loans on-chain as tokenized real-world assets (RWAs) using ETHZilla’s blockchain technology, enabling institutional investors to access the $14 billion manufactured housing finance market through Ethereum-based tokens. This move is expected to increase liquidity, transparency, and institutional trust in the sector. ETHZilla’s stock recently dropped following news of a $516 million convertible notes redemption, but the company remains focused on expanding its presence in the tokenization market and accelerating revenue-generating activities.
