Meta unveils $95 billion fundraising drive for AI expansion

Meta to raise up to USD 95B via equity offerings for AI infrastructure, targeting data centers and cloud computing, with 2026 capital expenditures projected at USD 135–145B.

Meta Platforms has unveiled plans to raise up to USD 95 billion through a mix of equity offerings to support its growing investments in artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure. The fundraising strategy features an initial USD 35 billion tranche via public offerings of depositary shares and Class A common stock, tied to forward sale agreements. Additionally, Meta intends to launch a future at-the-market offering of about USD 60 billion, linked to the introduction of Class C common stock. The capital raised will be used to expand data centers, cloud computing, and related infrastructure. Meta projects total capital expenditures of USD 135–145 billion for 2026. The company reports that these investments are already delivering benefits such as increased user engagement, improved advertising performance, and higher monetization. Interest in Meta's offering has reportedly come from major tech firms like Nvidia, AMD, and Broadcom. Following the announcement, Meta's stock price dropped by 1.6% in morning trading. Analysts estimate global AI-related capital expenditures could reach USD 7.6 trillion between 2026 and 2031.
