Arthur Hayes sells $22M in crypto, urges fair launches
Arthur Hayes sold $22.28M in ETH, ENA, UNI, and other tokens due to market risks. He criticized current token launches and called for fairer, more transparent practices.
Arthur Hayes has made headlines by liquidating his entire Maelstrom directional trading book, totaling approximately $22.28 million. The sale included 6,400 ETH worth $15.2 million, 14 million ENA valued at $2.76 million, and 323,000 UNI at $2.24 million, alongside smaller positions in ETHFI, AERO, PENDLE, and ZAMA. Hayes cited rising macroeconomic and geopolitical risks as the main reason for this defensive move. He stated that the current market environment is uncertain and that he intends to remain on the sidelines until conditions improve. This marks a notable shift from his previously bullish stance on Ethereum and ENA. Additionally, Hayes criticized the prevailing token launch model. He argued that high fully diluted valuations (FDV) and low-float tokens rarely see significant price appreciation on major exchanges like Binance. He believes that venture capital presales have distorted tokenomics, disadvantaging retail investors, and advocates for a 100% fair launch model to restore fairness and trust in the crypto industry.
