Hyperliquid boosts buyback to $100M as PURR, HYPE lag

Hyperliquid Strategies raised its buyback to $100M, with $72M still available, after PURR shares fell 30%. The program runs through October 2027. HYPE and PURR underperformed Bitcoin.

Hyperliquid Strategies Inc. has increased its stock buyback authorization from $30 million to $100 million, with approximately $72 million still available for repurchases. The program’s expiration date has been extended to October 31, 2027. The company stated that this expansion reflects confidence in its long-term capital strategy, though purchases remain discretionary and there is no guarantee that all authorized funds will be used. This decision comes after PURR shares declined by over 30% from their October high, while HYPE, the native token, also underperformed Bitcoin during the same period. Hyperliquid and Lighter traded $2.9 billion in Bitcoin futures daily, accounting for 7.5% of the total market. However, Hyperliquid’s RWA perpetual futures market share dropped from 80% in July to 26% as centralized exchanges gained ground. PURR currently holds 38.8 million HYPE tokens, valued at around $2.96 billion. Following the buyback announcement, PURR shares saw a modest rise, reversing earlier declines.
