PancakeSwap TVL surges as vote opens on fee overhaul

PancakeSwap launched a vote to raise liquidity providers' fee share to 88% and cut CAKE emissions by 69%. TVL rose 19% to $2.4B. Implementation is planned for November if approved.

PancakeSwap has initiated a governance vote on a significant overhaul of its fee structure, dubbed "The Flip." The proposal aims to increase the share of swap fees allocated to liquidity providers from 66%-68% to 88% in V3 and Infinity pools, reducing the protocol's portion to 12%. Additionally, daily CAKE token emissions are set to decrease by approximately 69%, dropping from 22,500 to 7,000 tokens. This move is designed to enhance incentives for liquidity providers and address concerns about CAKE's inflation rate. PancakeSwap's total value locked (TVL) surged nearly 19% over the past week, reaching $2.4 billion, primarily due to growth in V3 pools. Voting began on October 21 and will close on October 24, with implementation targeted for November if approved. The proposal also includes a supply condition, activating certain changes only if CAKE's circulating supply falls below a specified threshold.
