Standard Chartered to acquire Zodia Custody, expand crypto

Standard Chartered will acquire Zodia Custody, integrating its regulated operations, while Zodia’s tech assets move to Zodia Solutions under SC Ventures. Regulatory approval is pending.

Standard Chartered has entered into definitive agreements to acquire 100% of Zodia Custody, a leading digital asset custodian, pending regulatory approvals and closing conditions. Once finalized, Zodia Custody’s regulated operations in Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia, Luxembourg, and the UAE will be integrated into Standard Chartered’s Securities Services division, enhancing the bank’s digital asset custody capabilities. Meanwhile, Zodia’s software and professional services assets will be transferred to Zodia Solutions, an independent entity under SC Ventures. Zodia Solutions will continue to deliver digital asset infrastructure to financial institutions, supporting the broader crypto ecosystem. This acquisition follows a non-binding offer accepted by Zodia’s shareholders in May. Financial terms remain undisclosed, and the completion date has not yet been announced. The move aligns with Standard Chartered’s strategy to strengthen its presence in the crypto sector.
