MoonPay to acquire North Capital in $60M tokenization deal
MoonPay will acquire North Capital for over $60M in stock, pending regulatory approval, to expand into tokenized real-world assets and strengthen its U.S. regulatory position.
MoonPay has announced an agreement to acquire North Capital, a private-markets investment platform with around $9 billion in transaction volume, in an all-stock deal valued at over $60 million. The acquisition, which is subject to regulatory approval, will make North Capital a wholly owned subsidiary of MoonPay. North Capital offers technological infrastructure for securities tokenization, capital raising, asset management, clearing, custody, and secondary trading. Its affiliates also hold relevant SEC registrations, enhancing MoonPay’s regulatory standing. This move aims to expand MoonPay’s capabilities beyond cryptocurrency payments into tokenized real-world assets, decentralized finance (DeFi), and stablecoin liquidity. The transaction is designed to establish a regulatory foundation for the mass adoption of tokenized real-world assets, marking a significant step for MoonPay into regulated U.S. securities infrastructure.
